Davis Street United Methodist Church

Children & YOUTH PROGRAMS:

Nursery Ministry

During Sunday School, 9:45 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., dedicated volunteers provide tender loving arms for our babies through our 2 year olds. It is here they are introduced to God's love through age appropriate bible stories and play. Our Worship Nursery, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, is also supported by volunteers who shepherd our babies and toddlers through age 5, allowing mom and dad to celebrate worship with the church community.

Pre-School Ministry

The Pre-school and Kindergarten Class, meets from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. each Sunday, is the first structured learning environment that children are introduced too. Here they begin to learn about the Bible through song, stories, crafts, and games. Learning about God can never start to young.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY ~ Grades 1-5

PROMISELAND ~ Grades 1-3

The Promiseland curriculum is developed from following values:

Promiseland is a child-targeted ministry. We attempt to look at everything we do through a child's eyes. We plan activities that are age-appropriate and engaging to children.

Promiseland values the teaching of the Bible creatively. We teach Bible lessons through realistic drama sketches, video clips, creative storytelling, and comtemporary music. We use surprises, games, and fun activities which vary from week to week to creatively interact with the kids.

Promiseland values FUN! We want kids to have fun in Promiseland. While kids keep coming back for FUN, we can accomplish our mission by continuing to nurture and teach them spiritually. We want our children to keep coming back for more. Since we have the most incredible message to tell about our AWESOME God, we just cannot allow Sunday School to be boring. We pledge to make Promiseland the best two hours of yours child's week.

LIVE B.I.G. ~ Grades 4-6

LIVE B.I.G. curriculum is focused on helping tweens come to know the love of God through Jesus Christ. This is the next level to growing and learning how to be a friend of Jesus.

  • It's an adventure where tweens will hear, see and live their belief in God.
  • It's: music, art, theater, dance, laughter, discussion, imagination, education, entertainment, sight, sound, cool graphics, hands-on activities, games, crafts, snacks, bible stories, worship, prayer and so much more.
  • It's helping students grow as children of God by taking what they have learned during Sunday School and using it in their everyday lives.
  • It's based on "Three B.I.G. Truths"
    1. God is a Great Big God.
    2. God loves us with a Great Big Love.
    3. We are part of God's Great Big World.

This is a ministry that is directed at the girls from 5th to 12th grades who want to play softball just for fun and fellowship with other girls in our communities. There will be a game played each week for 12 weeks from April 3 to June 19.

More Youth Yak from Penny …..

May has been fun-packed and exciting! The youth attended the District Chicken Pickin' at Cedar Rock Park with fun, food and games, along with the big voting for new District Youth Officers. We are proud of Emily Hinson and Hannah Thomas for serving on the District Youth Council this year! Encourage them to run for an office next year. The girls have awesome potential and leadership ability to become a leader for the district, and eventually, the conference?!!?? Great job, Emily and Hannah!

Please be in prayer for our high school graduates this year, Wil Hinson, Matt Price, Curry Wilkinson & Elizabeth Thompson.

The Youth thank you for the Hospice basket supplies you brought in for them. They delivered the baskets and created an awesome blessing for the families by their visits, singing and smiles!

M-FUGE will be here before we realize it! The mission trip will be June 22 - June 28. We will be traveling to Florida for the week. Please be in prayer for us!

Youth will be selling names for a special “Father's Day” bulletin in honor or memory of that special someone. Names will be a minimum of $1.00 each. Please give information to the church secretary or place in the offering plate no later than Monday, June 9.

God has a wonderful plan for each person...He knew even before He created this world what beauty He would bring forth from our lives

.Romans 10:9-11 - “Today, I confess that Jesus is my “Boss”. He is Lord over all people, even those who do not acknowledge Him. He is the living Lord over my past, present and future; over my work and leisure. In Christ, I am rescued, saved and fulfilled.”
